"I am Shayna Frink your Miss California Collegiate United States 2021, and I am so excited to be the California Ambassador for Reading with Royalty. My platform is Relay for Life with the American cancer society and I love that pageants facilitate the opportunity to give back to your platform as well as many other organizations. I am a fourth-year student at the University of California San Diego as a Communication Major and Business Management Minor. I am the Vice Chair of Thurgood Marshall College at UCSD in charge of bringing all minority groups and external affairs together, including brining charities and organizations in to the school.
This project is especially special to me because I grew up with my parents reading books to me and it was always a constant that I had in my life. With the times we are in during 2020 almost nothing is constant anymore and change is continuously happening. I love that Reading with Royalty gives me the opportunity to be a constant in someone's life filled with uncertainty."

My personal platform is human trafficking, so keeping our children safe from the dangers of exploitation is something near and dear to my heart. Miss Chisholm Trail
“Hey friends! I am Candace Sweetwood, Miss Chisholm Trail. You can find me wearing heels and an oversized cardigan with a guitar in one hand and a book in the other. I have always had a passion for reading. As a child I inhaled books like they were candy. My passion for reading as well as children inspired me to attend Kansas State University and soon graduate with a degree in Secondary Education with a minor in English. Two-thirds of children living in poverty do not have a book at home. After hearing this statistic I decided to create my not-for-profit organization, Reading to the Rescue Foundation. The Reading to the Rescue Foundation is aimed at putting books into the hands of children in need and fostering a love for reading. Within the last two years Reading to the Rescue Foundation has collected over 1,500 books for children to begin their own personal libraries and begin their journey as lifelong learners. “
