Sudan Alex-Rose Lizz Eubanks, stands as a distinguished Teen Delegate for the Miss Black America Pageant 2023, bringing her unique blend of fifth-generation Floridian and proud Jamaican heritage to the forefront. Her journey, marked by resilience and determination, has sculpted her into both an entrepreneur and a formidable force in public speaking, all rooted in a deep commitment to community service.
Growing up amidst the challenges of poverty triggered by the 2008 stock market crash, Sudan experienced firsthand the transformative power of community service when strangers came to her family's aid. Guided by faith and fueled by hard work, her family triumphed over adversity, instilling in Sudan a profound sense of gratitude and a resolve to pay forward the kindness she received.
At the age of fourteen, Sudan founded "Reading With Royalty," a non-profit virtual book reading initiative. This endeavor, launched in April 2020, aimed to foster imagination and connect hospitalized children to the outside world during the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative quickly gained momentum, reaching 500 readers across seven countries and securing partnerships with select Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. The Miami Herald recognized Sudan's impactful work on August 17, 2020, marking a significant milestone for "Reading With Royalty."
Sudan's commitment to global leadership extends to her role as a youth volunteer for NFFI - JA (New Future Foundation INC., The Jamaican Chapter), a United Nations NGO. Through this engagement, she actively bridges the socioeconomic gap by donating essential items to disadvantaged children in Jamaica, leaving an indelible mark on the communities she serves.
Currently holding key leadership roles, Sudan serves as the President of the Student Government at Cushman High School, Vice President of the Mayor's Youth Coalition for Miramar, and Co-founder & Vice President of the Black Student's Alliance. Additionally, she is a dedicated member and officer of the Honors Society at Cushman High School, showcasing her exceptional leadership skills.
Sudan's impactful advocacy work in teen substance abuse and mental health earned her recognition on Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) for her leadership in the United Way of Broward’s Broward Youth Coalition (BYC). As an active member and Co-Vice President at BYC, Sudan continues to make significant contributions, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to creating positive change in her community and beyond.
